Running and Exiting Apps or Putting Them in Stand by

Running

An app which is not added on the Start screen or Desktop may be run using the following method:

  1. Click the [] icon on the left bottom on the Start screen.

  2. When the list of all apps appears, select an app to run on the screen.

Tip:

You can run the app by using the Search menu in Charms.

  • When you press [] + [Q] keys, the Search menu is run immediately.

Switching to Standby Mode

Windows Store apps can switch the app to the standby mode to switch and use the app rapidly.

  1. When you move the cursor to the center of the top of the running app screen, the cursor shape changes to a hand.

  2. Drag the hand cursor down towards the bottom of the screen while pressing the left mouse button to switch the app to the standby mode.

Exiting

Windows Store apps, unlike the Desktop apps, can be terminated using the following method:

Tip:

If not in use, Windows Store apps are automatically switched to standby mode.

  1. When you move the cursor to the center of the top of the running app screen, the cursor shape changes to a hand.

  2. Drag down while pressing the left mouse button.

  3. Rotate the app halfway roughly after 2 seconds while pressing the left mouse button and release the button to make the app exit.
