LG Update & Renew

LG Update & Renew performs updates to keep the system in an optimal state, and backs up and recovers data in case a problem occurs so that you can safely use your PC.

Select the Start button [] > [All] and run [LG Update & Renew].

Tip:

Menus and supported functions may differ depending on the model.

It may not work properly depending on user environment (security tools, etc.) and the network status.

Use LG Update & Renew to keep your system current and optimized.

Tour

Update

Allows you to install various PC drivers, applications and Windows patches easily and quickly.

Backup

Allows you to back up Windows, disk environment, and data safely.

Recovery

Allows you to recover backup data or reset your PC.

Tools

Allows you to divide disk partitions or delete data completely.
Program Information

Runs Help or displays information about the software.

Tip:

For details on ‘Backup’ and 'Recovery,’ see [Recovering the System].

Some models do not support ‘Backup/Recovery/Tools’ menu.

Update

If an item that needs updating is displayed, you can select it and update it.

Select an item to update in the [Update] menu and click [Installation].

Disk Partitioning

Partitions the disk installed with Windows or the data disks.

This only applies to models that support the ‘Tools’ menu of LG Update & Renew.

Caution:

You are encouraged to back up your personal files to avoid data loss when partitioning.

Select [Partitioning the Windows disk] or [Partitioning the data disk] from the [Tools] menu.

Tip:
The data disk partitioning function is only available on models with two or more storage devices.
If you select the desired disk partition, the [Partitionable minimum volume] menu appears.
Set the capacity of the disk to be partitioned and select [OK].
The disk will be partitioned.

Delete data completely

Allows you to delete all data of your PC to protect personal information and prevent it from being recovered and newly install Windows.

This only applies to models with NVMe™ SSD installed.

Caution:

All user data will be deleted and you cannot use our Factory Reset function, so be sure to back up important data in advance.

The adapter of the product must be connected.

Windows installed after deleting data completely refers to ‘Windows Clean Installation,’ instead of the manufacturer's factory reset, and its operation may differ depending on support from Microsoft.

To run ‘Windows Clean Installation,’ a network must be connected.

Select [Delete data completely] in the [Tools] menu.
Check [Agree] and select [Next] to reboot your PC.
Enter the displayed number according to the guide and press [Enter] key. (The displayed number appears randomly.)

- The screen appears repeatedly depending on the number of saved devices.
When all data are deleted completely, press [Enter] key. The system will restart.
To install Windows, select [Agree] according to the guide.
When the Wi-Fi list appears, select a Wi-Fi to connect and connect to a network.
When network connection is complete, Windows is installed.
When installation is complete, the Windows Initial Setup screen appears. Complete Windows initial setup according to the guide.

Tip:

When ‘Windows Clean Installation’ fails

Press the [F10] key and select [App Menu] > [2. Connected System Recovery] to newly install Windows.
