Clicking

Cause

Lid lock sounds when the lid locks or unlocks.

Solution

Spraying or hissing

Cause

Water spraying or circulating during the cycle

Humming or Gurgling

Cause

Drain pump is pumping water from the washer at times during a cycle.

Solution
  • Normal operation

Water sloshing

Cause

A liquid in the balance ring around the pulsator helps the basket spin smoothly.

Solution
  • Normal operation

Water being added after the washer has already begun to operate

Cause

The washer adapts to the load size and type to add more water to the cycle as needed.

Solution
  • Normal operation

Cause

The wash load may be unbalanced. If the washer senses that the load is unbalanced, it will stop and refill to redistribute the load.

Cause

The washer may be diluting laundry additives to add to the wash load.

Solution
  • Normal operation

Rattling and clanking noise

Cause

Foreign objects, such as keys, coins, or safety pins may be in the drum.

Solution
  • Stop the appliance and check the drum for foreign objects. If the noise continues after the appliance is restarted, call for service.

Thumping sound

Cause

Heavy clothes may produce a thumping sound. This is usually normal.

Solution
  • If the sound continues, the appliance is probably out of balance. Stop and redistribute the clothes.

Cause

The clothes may be out of balance.

Solution
  • Pause the cycle and redistribute the clothes after the lid unlocks.

Vibrating noise

Cause

Packaging materials are not removed.

Solution
  • Remove packaging materials.

Cause

The clothes may be unevenly distributed in the drum.

Solution
  • Pause the cycle and redistribute the clothes after the lid unlocks.

Cause

Not all levelling feet are resting firmly and evenly on the floor.

Solution
  • See the Levelling the Appliance instruction to adjust the levelling of the appliance.

Cause

Floor not rigid enough.

Solution
  • Check if the floor is sold and does not flex. See Choosing the Proper Location to select the proper location.

Washer chimes repeatedly before final rinse

Cause

This is not an error. This is an alert to allow the addition of liquid fabric softener before the final rinse.

Solution
  • See Adding Detergent and Softener for instructions on adding liquid fabric softener to the load.

    To disable or enable the fabric softener alert, press and hold Warm Water and Extra Rinse at the same time for three seconds.
