Reversing Doors
Your appliance is designed with reversible doors, so that they may open from either the left or right hand side to suit your kitchen design.
When purchased, the doors open from the right hand side. The reversing door instruction given in this manual is to reverse the door from right hand side to left hand side.
Reversing the doors must be performed by the qualified personnel of LG Electronics. If not, any damage caused by improperly installed doors will not be covered by the warranty.
Reversing the doors must be performed by two or more people.
Unplug the appliance before reversing the doors.
Keep the accessories, bolts and screws as they may be reused.
Be careful not to damage the wiring. If the wiring is damaged, it may cause noise or abnormal operation.
Remove food and any other movable accessories from the door baskets before reversing the doors.
Be careful not to damage or scratch the appliance.
Do not hold the handle when removing or replacing the doors as the handle may come off.
After reversing the doors, check for proper closing and alignment of the doors.
Remove the top hinge cover screws a. Use a flat-head screwdriver to release the tabs inside the front of the cover at the bottom b. Remove the cover.
Rotate the hinge lever c clockwise. Lift the top hinge d free of the hinge lever latch e.
CautionWhen lifting the hinge, be careful that the door does not fall forward.
Lift the door from the middle hinge pin and remove the door.
CautionPlace the door, inside facing up, on a non-scratching surface.
Remove the two screws a, the hinge pin sleeve b, the hinge lever c and hinge bracket d from the bottom right side of the door.
Turn the hinge lever a over and install it, the hinge bracket b, screws c, and hinge pin sleeve d on the bottom left side of the door.
Use a 1/4 in. (6.35 mm) hex socket wrench to loosen the hinge pin a and remove it. Use a 3/16 in. (5 mm) Allen wrench and a Phillips screwdriver to remove the two Allen-head b and one Phillips-head c screws. Remove the hinge d.
With a flat-head screwdriver, carefully pry off and remove the cover over the bolt holes on the left side of the fridge.
Remove the outer lower decorative screw from the flange on the frame between the freezer and fridge doors. (You will need this hole for the middle hinge.)
Flip the middle hinge bracket a and position it on the left side of fridge. Insert two Allen-head screws c and the Phillips-head screw b.
Insert the hinge pin a using a 1/4 in. (6.35 mm) socket wrench.
NoteThe bracket b has been flipped, but the hinge pin a stays in the same orientation with its hexagonal end facing upward.
Insert the decorative screw a into the outer hole on the flange along the right front side. Insert the cover b over the 2 open bolt holes on the right side. The cover is force-fitted.
Loosen the two screws and remove the left hinge cap.
Place the fridge door down over the hinge pin on the middle hinge pin bracket.
NoteThe left top hinge, right hinge cap, and left hinge cover are provided for reversing doors.
Fit the hinge a over the hinge lever latch b and slot it into place. Rotate the lever c clockwise to secure the hinge. Assemble the left hinge cover with the two screws d.
Assemble the right hinge cap with the two screws.
Reversing the Fridge Handle
Loosen the set screws a with a 3/32 in. (2.5 mm) Allen wrench, and remove the handle.
Loosen the mounting fasteners b that connect to the fridge door and handle using a 1/4 in. (6.35 mm) Allen wrench, and remove the mounting fasteners.
Carefully lift the decorative covers c out of the screw holes using a credit card to avoid scratching the door surface, and then remove them by hand. Once they are removed, install the covers in the screw holes d on the opposite side by popping them into place.
Attach the mounting fasteners b to the opposite side of the door using a 1/4 in. (6.35 mm) Allen wrench.
Place the handle on the door by fitting the handle footprints over the mounting fasteners b and tightening the set screws a with a 3/32 in. (2.5 mm) Allen wrench.
